Multiple Voting Software Applications with Reply Audience Response Systems.

One of the major features of the Reply audience response systems is the quantity and variety of voting software packages for all the Reply voting keypad systems that can be used in many situations ranging from quiz shows to consulting tasks. One size does not fit all and the Reply family gives you choices that other keypad products don’t.

Voting Applications in General

Most voting softwares do the same thing, they just do it in different ways – present the question, receive votes and show the results as a graph of some sort. The more expensive softwares tend to be more feature rich, but also a little more complex to programme. They are all generally easy to programme and operate and provide high quality post meeting reports. Specialist software tends to concentrate on either specific game show formats “Power of 10”, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”, etc. or on Management Consulting tasks such as Risk Management analysis and decision support.

If voting sessions are going to be run and operated by an AV technician, who is going to operate all the technology, and the presenter is simply going to present the presentation then a Stand-alone application is probably the best. If voting sessions are going to be run and operated by the presenter however, and the presenters are going to spend time on learning how to use the voting software, then a PowerPoint voting software is probably the best application.

PowerPoint Voting Softwares – are becoming more popular as they give a voting capability to PowerPoint presentations, but they do have their draw backs. Despite what many suppliers say they are not totally PowerPoint compatible and voting slides frequently cannot deal with animations style features and voting features on the same slide. PowerPoint voting software applications are generally rather rigid in use in that you cannot generally do impromptu questions, jump back and ask questions again and do on the fly comparisons – Stand Alone applications are usually far more flexible in use.

Stand-Alone Voting Softwares – do not use PowerPoint presentations, they are better voting applications and very good presentation packages in their own right. PowerPoint slides can be saved as picture files from PowerPoint and used as inserts or backgrounds to voting slides, pictures can be inserted into question slides in the same way that they are inserted into PowerPoint. Although they don’t have as many presentation features as a PowerPoint based voting presentation, they are far more flexible and adaptable when being used.

Specialist Voting Softwares – tend to be developed for specific tasks such as Risk Management workshops or problem solving meetings and the best example of this type of software is Ballot which has been designed for the Risk Management area.
